What is a custom analytical method?
If you
recently purchased or have owned for quite a while
some the analytical instruments we have here at HSL
we will work with you to develop methods specific to
your application. For example, if you're
interested in the identification of sesquiterpenes
by GC-MS we will work with you to develop a method
to accurately and precisely separate, detect and
identify these compounds in your sample matrix.
This will include optimizing your extraction
procedure, testing GC columns for maximum efficiency
and developing injector and oven programs.
Also we will test the method by both ion trap and
quadrupole MS.
What is a custom analytical interface?
Often
times the limits of detection are set by the sample
introduction system of the instrument manufacturer.
We develop sample introduction interfaces that are
unique to customer needs. These include
cryogenic laser ablation cells for LA-ICP-MS
analyses of biological tissues, gas laser ablation
cells for LA-GC-MS of solid materials, and gas
transfer lines for GC-ICP-MS speciation. We
also offer other custom built interfaces including a
thin-layer chromatography-HPLC interface for HPLC-MS
of TLC spots.
Do you do more traditional analytical
measurements?
Absolutely! We employ APHA, EPA, NIOSH, and
ASTM methods for quantification of inorganic and
organic constituents in a wide variety of sample
matrices. If you don't see a common analysis
here just ask....
Are you
a certified laboratory?
Our EPA
laboratory # is AR01011 (EPA methods 200.8 and
6020). Click
here
for our draft QAPP plan.
We are an
experimental CLIA laboratory (CLIA
Lab # 04D1066524).
If the market demands we will
pursue other certifications in the future. We
adhere strictly to the protocols of the
certifying agencies in all analysis for which
standard operating procedures are available.
